Metal-Tec Metal Roof Paint Direct To Metal Paint

Metal-Tec Metal Roof Paint Direct To Metal Paint
Acrylux Metal-Tec™ Metal Roof Paint is a high-performance, field-applied coating engineered specifically for metal roof restoration and color changes. It combines the adhesion and toughness of a premium crosslinking direct-to-metal (DTM) coating with the long-term weathering durability expected from a roof-grade finish. Metal-Tec uses industrial-grade pigments and advanced resin technology to stand up to intense heat and constant exterior exposure, while incorporating rust-inhibitive properties to help resist corrosion. Ideal for aluminum, Galvalume®, steel, and previously coated Kynar®/OEM finishes, Metal-Tec is a dependable solution for both newly installed metal roofs and older, weathered systems.
-
For use on new or previously painted metal roofs, including aluminum, galvanized steel, Galvalume®, copper, zinc, and stainless steel.
-
Coverage will vary with surface porosity; when spraying, expect 350–400 sq. ft. per gallon.
-
Apply with a high-quality nylon/polyester brush, 3/16" woven roller, paint pad, or spray equipment. Maintain a wet edge during application, as the product dries quickly. Rinse
brushes with warm water during extended use. Two coats are recommended for
maximum durability.
Spray Application:
Airless: Use a fine-finish tip (.015"–.019") at 1500–2000 psi.
Conventional/HVLP: No thinning required for airless spray. If needed, thin up to 5–10% (12 oz./355 mL per gallon) with clean water for conventional, HVLP, or brush applications.
-
At 70 F and 50% relative humidity: Touch – 1 Hour , Recoat – 2-4 hours.
Dry times may vary depending on air temperature, wind, and humidity.
-
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, grease, mildew, rust, loose paint, and other contaminants.
Aluminum: Clean with solvent and hand tools at minimum; for best results, blast clean. Prime the same day.
Galvanized Steel: Solvent clean, then pre-treat with an etching solution. Brush blast if passivated; remove rust and prime same day.
Galvalume: Clean thoroughly, repair damaged primer, and confirm compatibility of shop and field coatings.
Copper: Solvent clean and prime same day.
Zinc: Sand smooth, remove dust, and ensure compounds are dry before priming.
Stainless Steel: Sand or clean to open pores; treat mildew; fill, caulk, and sand smooth before painting.
Previously Painted: Allow 30 days cure (pH ≤10). For earlier coating, cure 7 days and prime with alkali-resistant primer.

Whether you’re changing the color of a newly installed metal roof or restoring an old, worn one, Metal-Tec is the premium choice. You’re no longer locked into a single color for the life of your warranty. Trust Acrylux Metal-Tec for lasting protection and an updated look!
First in Class Dedicated Roof Paint
Acrylux has been formulating the country’s leading roof paints since our founding. With the rapid growth of metal roof installations, we recognized the need to address this expanding market. This product is not a standard direct-to-metal paint. It is specifically formulated with performance features designed for the harsh exposure conditions that metal roofs face.
Factory Finish
Acrylux Metal-Tec Roof gives homeowners and property owners the ability to restore and transform both new and weathered metal roofs with a durable, high-performance coating system. Whether updating the color of an existing roof or enhancing the appearance of a new installation, Metal-Tec Roof provides long-lasting protection against the elements while helping extend the roof's service life.
Industrial Tints for Color Stability
Metal-Tec metal roof paint uses high-performance industrial-grade tints engineered to maximize long-term color retention on metal roofs. Typical architectural coatings sold at standard paint stores rely on general-grade, water-based tints in their direct-to-metal paints, making them far more susceptible to early fading.
